File Transfer Process
This guide details the steps you are to follow when changing the location of storing files using the WebDAV protocol.
If you are a new client and have no need to transfer files, please review the WebDAV Setup guide to establish the default location for your files.
NOTE: When transferring or migrating files from Box.com to Amazon or Windows you may need to rename any files with "Special Characters". i.e. blank spaces, < (less than)> (greater than), : (colon), " (double quote), etc. Once the migration is completed to your new instance you can rename the file name via the File Details Section (click on the file > go to more > rename the file and just saving the file again). Our Workamajig code will automatically rename the file so it is accessible on your new WebDAV instance.
1. Get your "new file location" setup and working according to our WebDAV specs.

- Amazon, please refer to this guide: Amazon S3 Setup for WebDAV
2. Go into WebDAV Setup and enter your new file location details and connect.

If you have issues connecting successfully, let us know by emailing support@workamajig.com.
3. Your WebDAV server should be the Default and will now be used for all NEW file uploads going forward.
- To verify this, upload a file to any projects > Files section and upload an attachment to any Diary post or Activity.
4. It's at this point that we can send you all your old files stored on our server (since your new server is catching all new files).
I am using Amazon S3
There are 3 methods we can use to transfer your files from our Workamajig server to you:
- S3 Sync Tool: (Preferred) Provide us with the Bucket Name and keys to connect to S3 browser to your system. For further information, please see https://s3browser.com
- Dropbox: We will provide you with a Dropbox link to retrieve your files. You will then upload the folder into your S3 Bucket/Workamajig folder. The folder structure from Workamajig will be retained, so you need to only drop the Active, Attachments and Reviews folders into the main Workamajig folder. NOTE: the total size of your company zipped folder may make this method unavailable to use.
- Google Drive: Provide us with access to a Google drive login and we will transfer the files to this drive location. You will then upload the folder into the S3 Bucket/Workamajig folder. The folder structure from Workamajig will be retained, so you need to only drop the Active, Attachments and Reviews folders into the main Workamajig folder. NOTE: the total size of your company zipped folder may make this method unavailable to use.
I am using a Windows Server
There are 3 methods we can use to transfer your files from our Workamajig server to you:
- FTP Access: (Preferred) Provide us with access to an FTP site. We will upload the files to this location to your system. The folder structure from Workamajig will be retained, so you need to only drop the Active, Attachments and Reviews folders into the main Workamajig folder.
- Dropbox: We will provide you with a Dropbox link to retrieve your files. You will then upload the folder into your S3 Bucket/Workamajig folder. The folder structure from Workamajig will be retained, so you need to only drop the Active, Attachments and Reviews folders into the main Workamajig folder. NOTE: the total size of your company zipped folder may make this method unavailable to use.
- Google Drive: Provide us with access to a Google drive login and we will transfer the files to this drive location. You will then upload the folder into the S3 Bucket/Workamajig folder. The folder structure from Workamajig will be retained, so you need to only drop the Active, Attachments and Reviews folders into the main Workamajig folder. NOTE: the total size of your company zipped folder may make this method unavailable to use.
5. Once the files have been added to your server, please let us know so we can turn off the files on our server.

Verify before and after that you can access old files in projects and attachments, then we can turn off the file connection to our server so you do not get changed for any overages.
Additional Support
• When clients are using Box and after we have transferred Digital Assets/Files to them we need to make an adjustment in the database on the appropriate App Server
• As for transferring Digital Assets/Files to customers using our other WebDAV types (Amazon, Windows. or Mac Beta), here is the protocol
- if they have 10Gb we can Dropbox the Digital Assets/Files to the customer and they can upload them to the correct directory.
- If they have over 10Gbs we need to FTP them by pushing to their FTP server so we will need their credentials.
Note 1: We also need to know when the customer is switching to their new WebDAV server i.e. before the transfer of the Digital Assets/Files from our server to theirs or after so we know when to make it the default server (if they know how to do this obviously we do not need to know).
Note 2: They will need to inform us when we can delete the Digital Assets/Files from our server or they will continue to be changed.
