When are backups performed?
We back our Workamajig servers every hour for changes and then perform a full backup each night. These backup are used in case the server itself has an issue for what they call in IT world a catastrophic failure.
NOTE: These backups cannot be used to recover individual transactions that you have deleted from your instance of Workamajig, such as timesheets, invoices, project schedule changes, etc. Only the entire server database at the time it was backed up.
Can I get a backup copy of our data?
Yes, we at Workamajig can create a SQL backup file of your server's data. This is done for a fee. Please contact your Workamajig Account Manager for further details.
Installed/Local Hosted Server
Workamajig has no control over your server, and therefore you are in charge of the backup and recovery routines you have in place for your company. There are several ways to backup your SQL server database, such as 3rd party backup utilities and there are built-in tools to SQL server to create a backup file. We are happy to show you which database you need to back up, but in the end, it is your decision how to do the backup. Typically, you would target the Workamajig SQL database and the Workamajig folder on the server for backup.
There are several articles on automating this process by googling "schedule a SQL server backup" The process is slightly different for each version, but scheduling a backup using the built-in tools for SQL server is pretty straight forward.
If you need to restore Workamajig on a new server, make sure that you set the Machine Name to match the inactivated server so that the Workamajig license key will work on the new server.
