Screen recording [guide]
There are times the Workamajig support team will ask you to demonstrate or provide the steps in your process that led to the problem you are reporting.
If you are able to reproduce the issue, sending a screen recording of the problem is a great way to help support quickly identify the issue and take the next steps in getting it resolved.
There are a number of software programs, free and paid, that allow you to capture your screen. Please talk to your IT department to find out which one is most appropriate for your organization.
Apple and Microsoft provide a built-in screen capture program on the workstation.
Below are the instructions on how to create a screen recording on their respective OS workstation.
Mac - Quicktime player
- Open Quicktime player
- File > New screen recording
- Decide to record the entire screen or selected area
- Click Start recording
- Click the Record button
- When completed, click the Stop Recording button. The top right corner of your screen
- This will bring you back to the Quicktime Player menu: click File>Save
- Select the location and name the file appropriately.
- Send the file to Workamajig Support
Windows 10 - Xbox Record
- On your keyboard, click + G
- Check "Yes, this is a game."
- Click the Record button
- When completed, click the Stop Recording button
- Click Folder on the Taskbar at bottom of your screen
- Find and select the Videos folder in your left panel
- Open the "Captures" folder
- Find the file. You may want to right-click on the file to rename it to something more appropriate.
