Add new change order estimate [in-depth guide]
A change order is used to track adjustments to the original scope of work. A change order is created using the same basic process of adding a new estimate, as outlined in the Add new project estimate [guide]. However, a change order estimate should only consist of the additions or subtractions of hours/expenses. The original estimate + all change order estimates when approved will combine to provide the current budget numbers.
Make an estimate be a change order
Follow the same means of how you created the original estimate.
With the new blank estimate open, click the checkbox for Change order.
Now you can either make your labor and expense adjustments manually.
If only the labor has changed
Meaning you either added or removed allocated time in the schedule that previously matched your original estimate, then you can simply click Pull from schedule to pull in those changes only. This is part of the functionality of the Change order checkbox.
NOTE: All expense-related changes still need to be adjusted manually.
Reporting
You can report on Change order estimates separately from the original & total budgets.
Approving an estimate
- From the Actions tab click the Approve link. This will cause the estimate amounts to show up on the Project budget page and also on project reports.
- From the Actions tab click the Unapprove link to unapprove the estimate.
- Clicking the Copy link will create an exact copy of the current estimate, which will be listed in the project estimates grid.
