System Options: Custom Menu Setup [in-depth guide]
Guide contents: Navigation | Custom Menu Setup | Adding Items | Copy Custom Menus | Delete Custom Menus | Example | Show All Apps
Creating custom menus for your users is a great way to keep them focused on their role and navigation through the system. Especially if your role requires you to venture through several sub-menus, like maybe someone in Finance who needs to access multiple Today pages.
NOTE: Custom Menus is not design to replace security settings of what users can do and access in the system.
Navigation
Menu > Admin/manager > System setup > Account information > Custom menu setup
This feature allows you to create a custom menu per security group. Doing so will then become their default menu. However, users can always click Show all apps in the lower right of the menu to see all the sections they have access to by the default roles menu.
NOTE: While you can edit the names of the buttons, the page it opens retains the original name.
Custom Menu Setup
The security groups are listed on the left and have no custom menus by default.
To start, highlight which group to customize, then click on the plus sign to start adding menu items.
Adding Items
You can add items or folders from the item list and choose the order in which they appear.
Add Items
Example for what Items you might give your Creatives.
You can also edit the menu items name, color and icon.
NOTE: Editing the name here does not change the name on the screen that opens.
Add Folder
You can add a folder to put menu items underneath it.
From the Folder you can choose Items or a URL
Here is an example with some of the top level items now under a Folder.
Add Custom URL
You can also add an Item that when clicked will open a new browser tab to a specific URL.
Copy Custom Menus
You can also copy a custom menu from one group into another.
First, highlight the 'group' on the left you want to copy to.
Then click the Copy icon and choose a Group to copy.
Your highlighted group will now have the same custom menu as the group you copied from.
NOTE: A pen edit icon appears next to any group that has a custom menu setup.
Delete Custom Menus
You can delete individual items by clicking the trash can icon to the right of the custom menu item.
NOTE: If you delete all Items, the system will revert to the default menu for that security group.
