Exchange Server Sync - Overview

Supported Versions Of Microsoft Exchange Server | User Guide And Sync Tool | Current Version

NOTE: Workamajig is deprecating the Exchange Server Sync. The preferred connection is using a subscription to your Outlook calendar. The tool may be hidden in the UI. If you do not see Sync Settings, please contact your Account Manager at support@workamajig.com for further assistance. 

 

There are two versions of Exchange that are available for creating a connection to the Workamajig calendar. Though most people have moved to Microsoft 365 which includes an online version, the tool below can also be used for a local hosted version of Exchange.

The connection to via Exchange allows for a 1-way In; 1-way Out or Bidirectional sync of calendar events. However, as most people would consider Outlook to be the "Primary" calendar for the organization, we would recommend that the sync direction be set to "TO WORKAMAJIG" for most implementations.

The connection to Workamajig requires a tool be installed on any Windows 7 or higher or Windows Server machine.

 

NOTES:

  • SPAM Filters: Ensure that you whitelist Workamajig at all levels. This may include frontline exchange servers, mail servers, and the individual box filters.
  • Exchange is a Microsoft product, as such the sync tool we created requires it to be installed on a Windows OS.
  • Any tests you do with this type of sync must be used with an Active user in Workamajig.

Supported Versions Of Microsoft Exchange Server

ATTENTION! 
As of October 13, 2020, Workamajig no longer supports Exchange Server 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013

 

We will no longer support the above versions as Microsoft has discontinued support for these platforms or support for TLS1.2.

This means we will no longer develop fixes to the Exchange Sync Service and will no longer fix sync issues that have been created using these versions. However, you will still able to use these versions to sync with Workamajig if you so desire. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact your Workamajig Account Manager at support@workamajig.com

  • 2016 (Can be hosted with a third party site)
  • Exchange Online / Office 365 (Microsoft hosted version)
    NOTE: If you are using Exchange 365, make sure to download the latest tool.

NOTE: The Exchange Sync Service is tested against the latest service pack and update rollup version of Exchange. It is recommended your Exchange installation be updated to the latest service pack and update rollup, which can be found at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/240.exchange-server-and-update-rollups-build-numbers.aspx.

NOTE: This tool is set up on a single Windows-based machine that has access to both your Exchange server and Workamajig, and is "always" on. It does NOT need to be set up on individual workstations.

Please make sure you download the correct version of the Workamajig Exchange Windows Service tool based upon your version of Workamajig.

Download Workamajig Exchange Windows Server Tool (3.0.4.6) HERE.

Supported Exchange Server Version: Microsoft 365, 2016 or newer

Supported Workamajig Version: 10.5.8.4 or newer

NOTE: You may not need this update! If you are having problems associated with throttling as enforced by Exchange 2016 or Exchange 365, you will want to update. If you are not having this issue, there is no need to update.

Update Release Notes: Version 3.0.4.6: Increased HTTP timeout and updated general components.

Fixed a bug for when there were zero meetings being returned from Exchange that caused the sync to
crash in some scenarios

Office365/Exchange365 Users

You MUST install the following package: Prereq for 365.

You may already have these files installed. Please do so again, there should be no harm in overwriting older installation

Supported Workamajig Version: 10.5.8.3 and older

NOTE: Workamajig no longer supports Exchange versions prior to 2013
