How do I allow Flash in Chrome [guide]
At the end of 2020, Adobe will no longer support the Adobe Flash browser plugin. In preparation of this, many browsers have already begun blocking the Flash plugin from running.
With the update to Chrome version 76, each time you open Workamajig Classic UI, you will be asked to allow Flash to run. There is no workaround for this being asked each time.
Of course, we recommend that your team transition to Workamajig Platinum, as soon as possible.
If you still wish to use the Classic UI, you can install Adobe AIR and download the Workamajig AIR app.
For those that wish to continue using the Chrome browser and the Classic Workamajig UI, below is a choice of two methods to follow to allow the Flash plugin to run.
At the end of 2020, Chrome will remove all support for Adobe Flash plugin and it will be fully disabled in Chrome.
Choice 1: URL Lock
1) When you first go to the Workamajig Classic URL, you will now get the following screen
2) Click on the Lock icon just to the left of the URL
3) In the Connection is secure screen: Flash, change the dropdown to "Allow"
4)Click off of the screen and a dropdown will appear: "To apply your update.....", Click Reload
5) The screen will reload and the login screen will be visible
If you refresh browser tab or close the tab and reopen, the setting will be remembered and you will be taken to the login screen.
When you close/quit the Chrome browser, you will only need to follow the same steps to access Workamajig Classic.
Choice 2: Chrome Settings Update
1) When you first go to the Workamajig website: you will now get the following view:
2) Click on "Get Flash"
3) This will cause an icon to appear at the far right of the address field and will quickly display "A plugin has been blocked". Click on this icon
4) This will display: "Flash was blocked on this page". Click Manage
5) This will bring up the Chrome: Flash Settings page: find the "Block sites from running Flash (recommended)" line.
6) Move the switch to the right. Once you move the switch, the label for the line will change to "Ask first".
7) Go back to the original Workamajig tab and click the refresh icon. NOTE: You will only need to perform Steps 1-6 this one time.
After the refresh, you will see the same message regarding Alternate HTML....
Click on "Get Flash"
8) This time you will see a different box "...workamajig.com wants to: Run Flash". Click Allow
9) Once you click this, the page will load, as usual.
If you refresh browser tab or close the tab and reopen, the setting will be remembered and you will be taken to the login screen.
If you close/quit the Chrome browser and reopen, you will only need to follow Step 8 & Step 9. The Chrome setting to Ask First will be followed.
This change was done by the Google Chrome developers. There is nothing Workamajig can do to override or change this new functionality in Chrome. If you have any questions, please contact your Workamajig Account Manager via support@workamajig.com.
